Randy Shannon Ends Questions about QB Controversy

Shannon tells the press that Jacory Harris, once cleared to play again, will remain the Miami Hurricanes' starting QB, ending all questions of a quarterback controversy.  Although Shannon praises Morris' performance in the game last week against Virginia, he remains firm in stating that Harris will remain the starting QB after he recovers.

Conn. Man Condemned to Death for Home Invasion

Steven Hayes was sentenced to death row today after brutally strangling a mother and constraining her two daughters to their beds to burn in a gasoline fueled fire during a 2007 home invasion.  The husband and father of this family, Dr. William Petit, told reporters that "this is about justice," and that he would never receive closure from the horrific tragedy.

13-year-old Shot Dead in Phoenix

Jonathan Garcia-Valladares, 13, was found shot dead Monday morning after leaving the house at around  7:30 a.m. to go for a run.  This shooting appears to be random, as the boy was not known to be involved with anything illegal in town.  Police continue to investigate the murder.

Mass. Teen Accused of Throwing Newborn Out the Window

Eva Flores was arraigned Monday for allegedly throwing her newborn baby out of a second floor window shortly after giving birth.  Her bail is set at $10,000.  Flores was raped in her home country of El Salvador and hid the pregnancy from her family after being threatened by the attacker.

Hurricane Kills at least 20 in Haiti

Hurricane Tomas hit Haiti Friday and 20 have now been pronounced dead as a result of the storm.  With Haitians still trying to recover from the earthquake in February, this storms flooding and landslides that occurred as a result were a devastating blow to the already struggling tent communities in and around Port Au Prince.

Texas Hit by Strong Tornadoes
